In conjunction with our member organisation, the University of Strathclyde, CBBC is currently looking to recruit a candidate for the following position, which will be based in Shanghai.
Project Manager – University of Strathclyde

Based in Shanghai, you will be working as part of the Recruitment & International Office (RIO) within the University of Strathclyde. This team, of over more than 40 staff, is responsible for attracting the very best students from across the UK and the world onto the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This post sits within the International Recruitment Team which is responsible for meeting challenging international student targets and the postholder will be expected to:
•Provide effective and professional representation of the University of Strathclyde in marketing and student recruitment activities in China
•Take responsibility for market planning and development and relationship management within assigned market channels and networks in China
•Assist the International Recruitment Manager (East Asia) in contributing to forecasting and meeting overall institutional targets, and inputting to the production of market plans, regional briefings and other market / country specific briefing papers.
Plan marketing and recruitment activities for the University. Particular responsibility for planning and conducting marketing and recruitment activity throughout China.
Attend marketing events, conduct seminars and interviews and engage in approved social media to recruit prospective students to the University of Strathclyde.
Select, train and performance-manage University of Strathclyde representatives across China ensuring the University is working with only the best performing agents.
Host frequent interview sessions for potential students in conjunction with Strathclyde’s agency network.
Conduct regular follow-up and conversion activity with applicants and enquirers via a variety of platforms including telephone, email and social media.
Work with Study Group colleagues to improve recruitment of Chinese students to Strathclyde via the Strathclyde International Study Centre. This will include attendance at recruitment events, school visits and general joint conversion activity.

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree with Honours or equivalent.
Excellent level of knowledge and understanding of current issues in higher education as they inform and influence higher education policy and student recruitment.
Fluency in English & Cantonese
A track record of success in developing, implementing and co-ordinating student recruitment activity in a university or similar organisation.
Postgraduate degree/professional qualification in marketing, international business , communications or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years broad professional /management experience in similar or related role.
Previous demonstrable experience in a University, or comparable environment, of student recruitment.
Experience of cross-cultural business transactions
Market development and relationship management
Experience of Higher Education international recruitment/marketing
Event attendance and presenting to an audience

Have an effective track record in delivering results.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience of developing and producing clear and insightful reports and presenting findings to a range of audiences
Computer-literate: articulate, confident and competent in the use of the Internet, web maintenance, database systems, electronic communications, ability to handle statistics and financial data – producing reports from findings.
Experience and knowledge of relevant social media channels particularly those which influence buyer behavior and target individual consumers.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, progress tasks and work to deadlines.
The job holders will report administratively to CBBC’s office managers in Shanghai, and functionally will report to and be supported by the Director for East Asia in the UK.
