Responsibility:

WiMAX is the next generation of broadband wireless technology. As Nortel launches its 802.16e/WiMAX initiative, the Software Development team is seeking experienced DSP software designers to join the WiMAX Base Station PHY Layer development group. The role requires an individual who demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit, possesses strong team working and communication skills, and an ability to ramp quickly on the 802.16e standard.

-          Design, develop and test real-time wireless baseband data processing for DSPs and related DSP peripheral driver implementations

-          Optimize existing DSP software modules to improve performance

-          Conduct design reviews and ensure that the design/implementation is fully meeting the design requirements

-          Provide Change Request sustaining support before Customer Ready of each release with quality and turnaround rate targets met

-          Generate and deliver content presentation to train peer design teams on focused domains or features involved

-          Report periodically regarding project progress, issues, etc. on a regular basis

Requirements:

-          Bachelor degree or above in Telecommunication, computer science or relate major

-          Quality C coding. C++ experience will be a strong asset

-          Familiarity with the physical layer of wireless air-interfaces such as 1X, EV DO/DV, UMTS or WLAN

-          Familiarity with device driver design

-          Familiarity with usage of Version management, Configuration management and Defect tracking system tools

-          Sound fundamentals on DSP theory, and good knowledge on DSP architecture and optimization techniques

-          Experience in developing and debugging real-time software

-          Experience with OFDMA signal processing

-          Experience with advanced lab tools such as vector signal analyzers and channel simulators

-          Use of DSP software emulation tools (setting breakpoints, using disassembly, data plotting and analysis) such as Code Composer Studio, Visual DSP etc

-          Use of basic laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers and scopes

- Knowledge of core network technology including call processing, signaling protocols and operator services.

-          Development in UML

-          Creation of simulation software in Matlab

-          Strong English written and oral communications skills

-          An ability and willingness to handle multiple assignments, adapt to fast-changing circumstances, and do what it takes to get the job done
