Responsibility:

Provides technical leadership requiring specialized expertise, creativity, initiative and sound technical judgment to execute complex tasks. Assignments are focused on implementing broadly defined programs/projects within defined parameters.

Designs, implements, documents and maintains complex platform-independent software systems, subsystems and application programming interfaces.

Identifies and advocates for new, enhanced or replacement technology to achieve objectives. Serves as the lead on the design and implementation of platform-independent solutions.

Trains other engineers on project architecture and technology.

Determines the major tasks necessary to achieve the project goals and develops detailed task breakdowns, time estimates and a work plan to build, test, and release the product. Applies sound technical and past projects experience in estimating task size and duration.

Executes the work plan, independently providing intermediate progress and exception reports to appropriate managers.

Identifies alternative solutions to achieve objectives. Highlights exceptions and risks to the plan, identifying actions being taken to address them. Achieves the committed results within the time frame, functionality, performance and quality objectives established for the project.

Education and Experience: BS/BSCS & 7-9 years or MS/MSCS & 6-8 years
Knowledge/Skills:

Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with strong knowledge in Computer Science.

Five or more years experience with Unix, Windows, RDBMS, and OO Design are required.

Must be capable of developing theoretical framework for a product component. Has experience developing multi-user or workgroup solutions. Must have worked on the design and implementation of software products, ideally in a large team environment and on commercial products.

Prior experience and strong background in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: C++, Java, J2EE, backend server or GUI development.

Experience with development of Data Integration or Business Intelligence products is a big plus.
