Position Title: Senior Technical Support Associate Business Details Division: ECRD Location: Business Unit / Department: Versatics Reporting to: Manager of Versatics Product & Application Development Position Specifics Geographies Covered: Regional Job Objective: To support the growth of the Versatics business in AP (with focus on Cardura) by giving swift and geared to local needs Technical Service support to technical developments by answering technical questions, customizing recipes to local requirements, providing hands-on customer support and supporting the launch of new developments ex. LLN. Cardura P&AD activities remain in LLN. Essential Functions: Senior TS associate essential functions according to corporate technology: - Provides technical support to customers in line with marketing plans and appreciating IP tactics; supports the launch of new developments ex LLN, solves problems, customizes recipes and provides hands-on support. - Interacts with peers in marketing, sales and P&AD to ensure alignment - Identifies customer needs through active listening, distinguishes between needs & wants, explores justification, and outlines next steps. Depending on the complexity of the inquiry, he/she will seek advice internally regarding answer/next steps. - Presents and explains details of technical products/projects. - Defines and executes experimental plans and customer-related technical support projects, applying high quality standards, critically reviews the results, and then communicates results to the customer. - Collects market intelligence or conducts market or intelligence studies and shares this information with relevant internal stakeholders as input for potential R&D projects/market plans. - Proposes development opportunities. - Identifies customer needs through active listening, conducts a needs and wants analysis, determines justification, and then outlines next steps. - Writes memos and TS reports. - Prepares and / or presents presentations / papers for in- and external customers and industry gatherings. - Maintains timely, accurate and (witnessed) lab books in order to provide the records required to properly execute/address all IP questions and needs and to safeguard experimental data. - Interacts with peers and customers with professionalism and respect. - Carries out activities living up to EH&S standards, practices good housekeeping. Decision making authority Staff will report to P&AD manager Versatics in LLN. Day-to-day decisions will be largely made together with the Sales AP. For higher impact decisions P&AD manager needs to be consulted Key Relationships: Staff will work closely together with Team leader and staff of the Solvent Borne resins team in LLN and Sales / Marketing staff in AP. He'll have to work to a large extent independently as there is no experience on Cardura based resins or related technology present in Hexions Shanghai laboratory New staff will have many and frequent customer interactions Staff is expected to operate and make decisions largely independently/in close interaction with Sales staff AP (and P&AD staff Solvent Borne resins in LLN); Staff will be working in the Strategic focus and Direction - Masters base/product technology/customer/market knowledge in specific field of expertise and uses this in technical projects. - Develops awareness of external technology developments through conference participation and reading of patents / technical literature. - Builds relationships with and provides TS to customers and associates in- and outside own business unit in line with business needs and marketing plans. The preceding is accomplished under no or limited supervision - Understands information about the strategic plan - Understands relationship between business plans and team/unit and role - Identifies problems in attaining planned goals or work and proposes solutions Trust and Teamwork - Acquires and displays correct, professional business etiquette in all interactions with in-and external customers / partners - Summarizes and assimilates information in reports and technical bulletins and presents this information to in- and external parties in a manner easily understood by others.
