Job Duties (include but not limited to):
Full life-cycle management (define, design, develop, deploy) for various projects relating to the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of the corporate data network infrastructure.
Serve as a liaison with other IS teams and other company departments to define requirements for and carry out various inter-team projects.
Daily general support for all routers, switches, firewalls and other network systems, serving as a key escalation point for troubleshooting complex network/systems/security issues.
Provide regular management reports to direct supervisor relating to network health/maintenance/uptime/etc.
Direct responsibility for maintaining systems and support service level agreements for systems uptime and support service levels.
Develop options, recommendations and associated cost benefits and implement cost effective solutions.
Document engineering standards and proposals or recommendations for network designs / engineering changes.
Develop and manage project teams in area of responsibility.
Work with network engineers, technical staff, and vendors to develop and implement network projects.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and technologies.
Assess emerging network technologies and make recommendations to information technology management.
Assist with VoIP troubleshooting and deployment.
Assist with the creation of new hire telephone and voicemail extensions on VoIP platform or Meridian Octel 81c.

 

Education: College degree preferred, ideally in computer science or a related field.
Strong and highly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Professional Certification (or equivalent training/experience) required: CCNA
Professional Certification (or equivalent training/experience) preferred: CCNP
Experience:
At least four years experience working in a corporate IT/IS environment
2 -4 years experience building and supporting complex corporate data networks.
Required Skills:
Cisco router and switch installation, configuration and operation, including 2000, 3000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series.
Cisco firewall installation, configuration and operation, including PIX 520, 515, 501 and ASA.
Cisco VPN installation, configuration and operation, including VPN 3030 and ASA.
Thorough understanding of standard and proprietary routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VLAN), access lists and filters.
Must be proficient in the use of protocol analyzers and network test equipment.
Must have in-depth knowledge debugging problems related to communications protocols.
Must have a working knowledge of SNMP, TACACS+, Spanning-Tree, OSPF and IPSec.
Must have superior troubleshooting skills related to the following network architectures: Multimode Fiber, Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as T1, T3 WAN circuits.
Practical knowledge of all cabling technologies associated with the above.
Good knowledge of network design, configuration and implementation of 802.11 wireless technology.
Should have working practical knowledge of Network Monitoring and administrative tools.
