ESSENTIAL FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working as part of a In China For China Project Team and the global engineering team focused on designing equipment products for the water treatment industry the Mechanical Design Engineer will provide complete mechanical infrastructure support to GE Water products and projects including localizing product designs for Chinese markets. The position reports functionally to the Project Engineering Leader and operationally to the ICFC Project Manager.

Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for consolidating product designs from the ICFC Development Teams and developing lower cost designs as well as designs more conducive to local market conditions. Working with Sourcing the Mechanical Design Engineer will develop product designs that meet local market conditions in terms of cost and materials availability as well as performance specifications. The Mechanical Design Engineer will manage creation and maintenance of the documents associated with product designs.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Tertiary level education in engineering discipline preferably electrical or computer controls related.
  
• Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design, field applications and troubleshooting in the water treatment industry w a focus on membrane products and applications
  
• Working knowledge of design tools and standards from around APAC
  
• Good technical writing skills
  
• Working knowledge of English language

DESIRED:

• Autocad and SAP capable
  
• English fluency
