ESSENTIAL FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced optical scientist to develop optoelectronic systems in metrology application and to serve as an interface between electronic design and optical sensing activities. This individual will take a leadership role in developing optical metrology application system and tools in our Shanghai facility, and serve as a primary interface to both the signal acquisition and interpretation activities in Shanghai, as well as optical metrology activities in the US. This person should be a self starter, able to work with and learn a wide range of methods and techniques as needed to support the application needs of the GE businesses.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong background in optical technology particularly as related to metrology applications
  
• Strong background in optoelectronic technology with respect to system design and applications
  
• Strong background in optical image signal acquisition and processing
  
• Experiences in C ++ and visual basic
  
• Understanding of optical instrumentation principles and practices
  
• Ability to develop data analysis code as related to optical measurement needs
  
• MS /Ph.D. (preferred) in optics, optical instrumentation, optoelectronic or mechanical engineering with emphasis in optical technology
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Chinese and English
  
• The ability to drive continuous improvement and implement change

DESIRED:

• Experiences in CAD software (preferably Unigraphics)
  
• Familiar with reverse engineering software, such as Surfacer, Polyworks
  
• Experiences with basic optical analysis packages, such as Zeemax, Oslo
  
• Experiences using analysis tools such as Labview, Matlab
• Experiences with some machine vision systems
