LOCATION Beijing

KEY OBJECTIVE

As a member of the Linux Engineering team at the Oracle China Development Center in Beijing, you will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing Linux kernel and userspace problems encountered while running Oracle products.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
(Outline specific tasks/responsibilities of the role)

· Diagnose, debug, and fix problems reported in the Linux kernel and userspace packages
· Work with customers on high priority issues or difficult to reproduce problems
· Develop fixes in a manner compatible with upstream versions
· Interface with teams in the US and other locations when assistance is needed
· Ensure that fixes are sent back to the Linux distribution vendors and to the respective package maintainer in the community

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE and TRAINING
(Indicate the essential experience, qualifications and attributes required to perform this position effectively)

Required Skills
· Good working knowledge of C
· Good verbal and written English communication skills
· Excellent system-level debugging skills
· Experience with one or more Linux distributions
· Experience with patching and rebuilding Linux packages

Desired Skills
· Basic Oracle knowledge
· Good organizational skills
· Experience with one or more functional areas of Linux (e.g. kernel, networking, filesystem, gcc)
· Understanding of the Linux development process
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Experience Requirement:
· 3+ years of software development experience
· 2+ years in Linux software development
· Previous experience working in a team environment
