REQUIREMENTS
Brief Description:
This highly technical role acts as the key liaison among RAC development managers, product managers and third-party technology partners. Concurrent projects include multi-component product validation and certification, test supervision and reporting, and product QA throughout the development lifecycle.
Even though this is a job within the development organization, it requires skills not circumscribed to software design or coding. Experience in systems and multi-component testing is valued, as are partner relationship, product integration, trouble-shooting and defect diagnosis.
Detailed Description:
The job position reports directly to the (Senior) Development Manager.
The Technical Specialist is assigned multiple primary duties:
- Leads the technical logistics behind installation, configuration, testing, defect tracking and reporting of all assigned projects.
- Logs and tracks product defects as they are encountered.
- Product integration work (with other Oracle products or third-party vendors)
- Accountable for project status, to be regularly reported to the Director or VP.
- Specific projects include:
- RAC High Availability
- RDBMS/mid-tier features and HA performance for preventing, detecting, recovering, and repairing unplanned outages in a RAC environment - End to end
- RDBMS/mid-tier features and HA performance for planned changes and repairs in a RAC environment
- RAC Workload Management 11g
- Services in RAC and Service level management (Oracle 10g and beyond)
- Workload balancing, placement, and stickiness (Oracle 10g and beyond)
- Quality Assurance - Applied White Box Measurement and Testing - RAC 10g and beyond (hands on)
- RAC Blue Print Architecture and Design
- Proven RAC architecture/design end to end
- End to End Performance Measures and Quality assurance
In addition to these primary duties, the incumbent will also participate in additional tasks with other senior team members, e.g.:
· Product testing blitzkrieg (beta and pre-release stress/destructive tests) · Product training and user documentation review · Publication of technical white papers, best practices or functional specifications · Proof-of-concept demo projects · Customer escalations (possibly) · Customer on-site deployments (possibly)
Professional Background:
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 8 years tenure in the enterprise software industry, as a senior member of Customer Support, Technical Consulting, Product Development or QA/Testing teams.
Technical Background:
The Technical Specialist must have experience with the following:
· At least 3 years experience in clustered server environments, and 2 years installing, configuring and/or testing Oracle 10g RAC, Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Application Server 10g. · Practical knowledge of shell scripting, perl and C/C++. · Desirable: Experience designing and executing destructive or performance tests. · Desirable: Experience with software development lifecycle or software project management.
