Oracle's System Management Products Division (SMP) charter is to build robust solutions for managing Oracle's entire software platform: from the storefront to backoffice, from applications to the database and host, and from the Web to the user. Our architecture has pushed the technology boundaries through the development of world-class, browser-based GUIs and a distributed Java architecture. Our products span the entire management spectrum, including: administration, real-time/historical performance monitoring, diagnostics and tuning, service level management, system and software configuration/ provisioning management and security management.

Our Quality Assurance engineers work directly with Development to design and execute tests that find every possible problem in our code on all supported hardware/os platforms, before releasing code to our customers

The SMP QA team is a dynamic software QA organization responsible for testing core SMP products including:

1.     Oracle Configuration Manager

2.     Grid Control

3.     Database Control

4.     App Server Control

5.     Third party plug-ins etc.

on all porting platforms. As a member of the SMP QA group, you will work closely with different Development, QA, Product Management and Release Management teams to ensure high quality and timely product releases.

Your work within this team would be to:

1.     Run regression suites on various platforms.

2.     Carry out install testing

3.     Execute Test Plans, Acceptance tests and other Port-specific tests for SMP product lines.

4.     Document test strategies, diagnose issues (Build, setup, test), verify fixes, test, and report product defects.

5.     Track bugs / issues to closure

Brief job description

Responsible for the following:

1.     Reviewing base platform test specifications; collaborate and develop port specific test plans with adherence to quality standards.

2.     Execute port specific test plans on various platforms, reporting setup, build and test issues.

3.     Set up test framework wherever necessary, analyze and write automated scripts to enable running these tests on various platforms.

4.     Maintain and publish documentation of test results.

5.     Analyze test results and recommend corrective action while identifying bugs and issues.

6.     Setup product in build and install environments, setup and run    regression testing using automated test tools / scripts.

7.     Participate in product /release meetings. Design and develop porting specific test plans based on functional / base test specs.

8.     Execute tests, participate actively in regression triaging testing, UI testing and manual testing.

9.     Evaluate quality risk for product changes/fixes, analyze and report test results to Development/Release Management teams.

10.  Analyzing reported bugs for continuous process improvement. Work with software developers, product engineers and test engineers to resolve the issues.

11.  Candidates must be proficient in planning daily activities,reporting status, interacting with other teams, and managing multiple project activities.

Job requirements

The following characteristics are preferred:

1.     Good understanding of roles, processes, procedures and QA test      lifecycles.

2.     Good spoken and written communication skills in English language

3.     Perform complex tasks with minimal assistance and guidance and       possess good problem solving skills.

4.     Ability to analyze setup/build/test issues. Strong analytical skills to find issues from log / trace files.

5.     Hands-on experience with various operating systems like UNIX (HP, Linux x64, Solaris, AIX etc)  and Windows 64 bit required.

6.     Hands on experience with automation tools, shell / PERL scripting       required.

7.     Basic knowledge of Object oriented language concepts

8.     B.S. degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

9.     A minimum of 4-6 years of software engineering or related experience required.

10.  Strong debugging skills desired.

11.  Proven capability to work across teams globally strongly desired.

12.  Strong sense of commitment to quality, schedule and effective       communication is a must

13.  Experience with web applications / database is desired.

14.  Keen interest in developing, executing and maintaining automated       test suites.

15.  Should be an excellent team player.
