JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Consultant will be responsible for implementing technical solutions that fully utilize Portal's portfolio of products . The Technical Consultant will understand and apply the technical components of Portal's solutions to address specific customer requirements and will have a thorough understanding of the capabilities and benefits of the solution. The Technical Consultant is a technologist with a strong understanding of Portal's products.

KEY CAPABILITY AREAS

A deep understanding of one or more components of the Infranet software. The Technical Consultant must have a good knowledge of some or all components of Infranet. Installation, implementation and customization are equally important.

Process Focus. The Technical Consultants is required to follow Portal's internal processes in the area of time reporting, expense management, technical project documentation, etc. It is important to follow the process on a weekly basis. The Technical Consultant is further required to follow processes established by the customer and/or the project.
Implementing Total Solutions. Participate in project teams to design, develop and implement the designed customer solution.

Technical Strength. Is considered the product expert in some or all of the Infranet components. Able to coach customer personnel in Infranet customization,configuration and use. Ability to present technical solutions in an articulate and professional manner to customers.

Solutions Design. Identify and quantify the customers' technical and business needs and the value of addressing those needs. Map Portal's capabilities to those needs and build consensus around the technical solution required

KEY RESULT AREAS

· Customize and configure Portal's Infranet product based on design specification.

· Map Portal's capabilities to the customer's needs and build consensus around the technical solution required generating both new and additional services bookings.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

· Build relationship to key technical customer contacts.

· Have appropriate relationships with Portal engineering. Act as the technical expert to the customer demonstrating solid communications and account management skills.

· Work closely with the Account team in planning and coordinating sales effortss and providing visibility into all delivery related activities.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Successful candidates will have background as a product specialist or technical consultant within a software IT environment.

The candidate ideally possesses strong Infranet knowledge.

This role demands individuals with the skills and understanding capable of bringing these elements together in a compelling business centered solution that addresses technical concerns and questions.

Strong candidates must possess 2+ years of implementation experience with wide ranging knowledge of technical processes to support the revenue chain in client environments.

· Established implementation skills at a technical level as a consultant within a professional services team focusing on the delivery of solutions.

· Basic understanding of software enterprise architectures, the application of technology and full life-cycle customer application implementations.

· Ideally some experience in the convergent communications market – preferably OSS/BSS or Voice, Data or Video sectors selling high value software solutions.

· 3+ years of software development experience in C, C++, and UNIX

· Preferred understanding of modern enterprise application platform technologies;

· Distributed computing (Corba, EJB, SOAP)

· Operating Systems (Unix, Windows AIX)

· RDBMS (Oracle, MS, DB2)

· Applications (Siebel, Oracle financials, SAP)

· Hardware Configuration (Memory, Storage, Resilience, Recovery)

· Software implementation experience, including installation, implementation, coding and testing.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong consultative skills.

· Good presentation skills, a confident communicator who is enthusiastic, self-starting and flexible in style and approach.
