Department: Finance & Controlling

Key Objectivities:

This role requires a wide range of organizational and technical IT skills combined with a good appreciation for project management. A well developed relationship manner is required as there is a high level of contact with all levels of users and management within China and other areas of BMW Group IT.

Main Tasks:

Windows Servers

• Responsible for the server availability utilizing Central IT Operations, including problem diagnosis and resolution management
  
• Administration of China OU PC's, users, printers and folder permissions
  
• Implement, maintain and support BMW standards, processes and IT-Systems within the defined scope.
  
• Liase and build up networks within customer technologies and with appropriate central functions and support groups in Central IT.
  
• Management of external resource and support providers for the delivery of specific projects and services

Data Networks

• Responsible for implementing and supporting of data network connectivity of clients and servers on Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks
  
• Plan and implement any new or expansion of the data network
  
• Co-ordinate activities with GDC network team.

Other Tasks

Technical and Customer Projects - Where required, lead/support of IT projects

Variety: (breadth)

Difficulty: (depth)

The difficulty will come from a set of demanding customers who require a high degree customer orientation and delivery of technical innovations preferably set within the boundaries of the BMW Group standards. Also from a matrix form of IT system and service management requiring high levels of management

Decision Making:

• Will be required to make operational decisions, in sometimes stressful situations that ensure the continued operability of the IT infrastructure
  
• Control and management of external suppliers and services as required in the delivery of operations or projects.

Know how:

• Strong knowledge and experience of :
  
  • Windows 2003 servers / Windows XP PC clients.
    
  • Client networking; TCP/IP, Subnets and network configuration.
    
  • Physical networking; Patching and switch analysis.
    
• 2-3 years experience in providing support in an IT Infrastructure environment.
  
• Analytical mind to problem solving (root cause analysis, ability to look for the 'whole' solution)
  
• Experienced in ITIL processes
  
• Strong interpersonal skills
