IT Specialist (IT专员)

Job Description

XRA has an IT strategy which aims for excellent performance in five key areas:

Service Integrity (100% uptime and fast performance of services – email/internet).
User Functionality (up to date software, looking for ways to improve software).
Data Integrity (ensure that every file in XRA is backed up and recoverable).
IT Security
Communication

This job description is broken down into those five areas, highlighting the required IT Skills, Experience, and Behaviors necessary to succeed in this role.


Required Skills and Experience:
The successful applicant will have significant industry experience of over 10 years working as an IT Administrator within a medium size enterprise (more than 200 employees).

The following skills and experience would strongly support their application:

Service Integrity:            Expert in:
Email Server Administration
Internet access, and administration of a corporate ISP.
                                    File Server Administration
                                    Windows Network Administration

                                    Has personally run and administered an email server, with exceptional up-time performance with over 200 user accounts.
                                               
Has delivered fast and reliable Internet service to his enterprise through both good selection and relationship with ISP.
                                   
User Functionality: ERP, Shop Floor Data connection, Shop floor PC’s (CMM, BTO, Grinding Machines).

Is experienced at supporting the ERP system software from an IT perspective.

Data Integrity: Backup software and hardware expertise. Must be able to set up and work a robust backup system and virus protection system. 

          Has experience of running a regular backup system. Understands and has administered hardware and software solutions such as RAID Arrays, Tape Backups, Automation etc…

IT Security:  Expert in IT Security. Has the ability to assess the security implications of every part of the XRA IT system.

           Has experience of setting up appropriate IT security measures. Experience must include both the IT administration side, as well as the relevant training for users to ensure the users understand the implications of inappropriate actions (downloading viruses, taking home work on USB etc…).

           Experience of working with external IT security auditors.

Communication: Experience of administering a web server such as Apache. Ideally this would also include experience of website administration including FTP, HTML, PHP, and Apache.

Presentation Skills: The IT specialist must be skilled at presenting technical IT subjects to non-technical managers.

For example, when describing the same new email system:

An unskilled applicant might say: “This email system is capable of handling over 700MB per day over a bandwidth connection of 3MB/s.”

A skilled applicant might say: “This email system will support XRA’s current users, and have room for 100 more in the future”.

Business Minded:
As highlighted in the Skills section, the IT Specialist must be able to present effectively to non-technical managers. They must approach their work from a business orientated perspective, looking for ways in which the IT system at XRA could add more value in the future. They must have the ability to justify expenditure by explaining clearly the business benefit it would bring, and (where appropriate) put a financial value to such benefits.


Leadership Skills:
The IT team must provide full support to XRA whenever (and for whatever) is needed. The IT specialist must be adept at selecting people with appropriate skills and behaviours who join their time in supporting the business and strategy.

English:
Able to read, write and speak to a fluent level in English.


Behaviors:

Personal Accountability to Deliver:
The key responsibility of the job is to deliver the aims (excellent performance in all five areas) and objectives of the IT Strategy. The IT Specialist must take full personal accountability for achieving this.

For each of the five areas this is a key behavior. For example:

Service Integrity: It is the responsibility of the IT Specialist that there is 100% uptime.
User Functionality: The IT Specialist must continually be looking for ways to improve the functionality of the IT system.
Data Integrity: EVERY electronic file within XRA is the responsibility of the IT Specialist. They must build systems which carefully backup everything.
IT Security: All IT security is their responsibility.
Communication: Continually look for ways to improve how XRA communicates through IT, both internally and externally.


Flexible:
At times the IT Specialist will be working on a particular project, but a user might come to them with an urgent problem. The IT specialist must be flexible and do all that he can to help. They must not forget that their customers are the XRA IT users – and the customers are the most important thing to focus on.

Energy and Drive:
In order to improve XRA’s IT system there will be many challenges. These must be met with an enthusiastic, positive and professional approach which continually drives towards delivering the XRA strategy.

Personal Learning:
The IT Specialist must ensure that both themselves, and their team, keep up to date with advances in IT. As future technology moves on outside XRA, it must also move on inside XRA. The IT Specialist must continually try to learn about and develop new IT skills within themselves and their team.
