Description -
As a Build Engineer, the qualified candidate will be knowledgeable in the applications they deploy. He/she will work closely with application subject matter experts (SME), developers, quality assurance engineers, support engineers, and infrastructure team members. This individual will be responsible for managing source code and its integrity while deploying the application throughout the critical path. This individual must be able to communicate effectively with all affected teams to set appropriate expectations.
The candidate will help determine issues and help fix internal processes, procedures, and tools to streamline the software deployment process - using automation wherever possible. Speed, reliability, and transparency are main drivers. To this end, it is vital that the candidate possess strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities -
·Execute application compile and deployment to dev and test environments within defined relative SLA’s
·Install prod-like builds
·Execute and publish EVT/IVT/Smoke test results for prod-like and released builds
·Translate and standardize build instructions using configuration management tools (Release Manager)
·Evaluate build processes and identify opportunities for automation and quality improvements
·Document application build processes
·Grant application level access to test teams
·Troubleshoot build and environment issues
·Coordinate build support hand-offs to alternate geographies
·Collaborate with Dev and Test teams for environment and application support
·Configure automated daily builds
·Monitor build queues and build calendars in order to provide complete support coverage
·Review compile cop results (i.e. FxCop, StyleCop, ACE Security, etc) and publish results
Basic Requirements-
·Experience in SQL administration
·Experience in IIS administration
·Experience deploying or building applications
·Excellent written and oral communication skills
·Bachelor’s degree in related field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc) or equivalent experience
Preferred Requirements -
·Experience deploying or building applications
·MCDBA
·MCSE
·Previous experience with configuration management principles
·Previous experience with source control methodology
