The Customer Service and Support business touches over 500 million customers per day through online experiences, phone based IVR, and assisted support. We collect an incredible amount of information on and about our customers and their experiences with Microsoft’s products but today we are not fully realizing the value of this information since it is locked up in information silos. The CSS organization is looking for a strong Lead Software Development Engineer who can lead a team to help us turn all of this data into information and insights that can be used to improve customer experiences, Microsoft’s products and the bottom line. This position will be specifically responsible for leveraging a team of talented software developers to create enterprise framework and tools to maximize team productivity and use those tools to implement business analytics solutions.
You must have a strong technical mindset and have minimum of 6 years software design, development and systems architecture experience. You will have direct experience shipping products, have demonstrated experience in working effectively across teams and thinking strategically about business issues. You should have prior background in building highly scalable database applications, web services and/or web experiences. A technical degree (including an advanced degree) with computer science as the primary focus is preferred. Background as a strong people manager, especially one with proven mentoring and coaching skills, is essential.
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge in a significant number of the following areas: C#, .Net Framework, XML, Web Services, SQL Server (RDBMS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), ASP.NET, Service Oriented Architecture, security, performance, reliability and scalability.
