Senior Software Design Engineer in Test Lead

Windows Live China (WLC) is building a world-class engineering team in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. We are a global extension and an integral part of Windows Live with the full responsibility and ownership for building Windows Live products and services.

The Shanghai Windows Live Platform Group is responsible for delivering a world-wide payment foundation, and Service Signup and Account Management experience platform. This platform is in the front and center of all Microsoft services (such as Windows Live, Xbox Live, Office Live, CRM, etc…). We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior SDET Lead.

Responsibilities:
Attract, Lead, Train, mentor, grow, and retain SDET talent at all levels
Work closely with the program management and development teams to drive quality through design and implementation
Participate in product spec reviews, design, triage, scheduling, and other product development process
Develop comprehensive test plans assuring the overall quality of the project, including functionality, security, performance and scalability
Hands-on writing test cases and test code
Lead the SDET team in implementation of a scalable, efficient test automation strategy
Work closely with program management and development teams to ensure appropriate quality metrics and goals are defined and tracked throughout the project lifecycle
Drive quality criteria for release and signoff
Work with other SDET leads and managers to ensure engineering excellence initiatives are driven effectively across WLC.

Qualifications:
Passion for, and commitment to, software quality
2+ years experience in a test lead role and proven track record of managing a team throughout at least one complete product cycle
A proven track record of shipping high quality, scalable software
Excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills; a “lead by example” attitude.
A deep understanding of software development process, demonstrated proficiency in designing test plans, and ability to work effectively both within a team and cross-group to create designs and to identify and manage dependencies, and drive to resolve issues and ship under tight deadlines.
Prior product development and in depth hands-on, working knowledge of .NET, C/C++/C#, SQL, and AJAX is a plus
A BA/BS degree or above in Computer Science or a related technical field
International travel is expected, with frequency based on business need.
