Chemizon is a rapidly growing drug discovery company with operations in the US, Korea and China. At Chemizon, we have built a strong Discovery Chemistry Team that supports new drug discovery. Chemizon in Beijing, China seeks a highly motivated, resourceful scientists to join our Discovery Biology Team. Biology research scientist in Discovery Biology Team responsible for design and validation of biochemical and cell-based assays as well as target identification/validation approaches using modern technology (e.g. siRNA knockdown).  The successful candidate will participate in kinase research efforts to deliver innovative targeted lead.  You will participate in the identification and implementation of biomarkers to guide pre-clinical lead optimization and early clinical development.  A demonstrated ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment and excellent written/oral communication skills will be essential to your success in this position.
 
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
  • Design molecular and cell biology experiments, troubleshoot and analyze complex data in support of drug discovery projects.
  • Design of cell-based assays including Western, ELISA-based analysis, TaqMan, Reporter assays, immunofluorescence techniques.
  • Design of extensive cell culture experimentation including transfection, stable cell line generation, characterization, cell line maintenance.
  • Design and use of siRNA reagents in tissue culture experiments.
  • Complex data analysis and report generation.
  • Presentation of results and conclusion both orally and written.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related discipline.  
  • MS. degree with at least 5 years of drug discovery research experience.   

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:
  • Strong problem solving skills, with working knowledge of experimental design and data analysis.
  • Extensive experience with tissue culture techniques (e.g. growing cell lines, transfections, virus infection, generation of stable cell lines, etc).
  • Experience working with human and rodent primary cell lines.
  • Extensive cell biology and molecular biology skills RT-PCR, western blotting, ELISA-based assay development and familiarity with immunofluorescence microscopy.
  • Proven ability to validate and execute cellular assays.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise isolating genomic DNA, plasmid DNA and RNA, Molecular cloning.
  • Proven ability to work in flexible, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in cancer biology is preferred.
  • Oral/written communication/listening skills in English are preferred.
