Job Overview
This position is responsible for running and building tests that ensure the quality of his/her assigned products within the scope of his/her training and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop test plans.
- Set-up testing environments.
- Perform test cases and maintain associated test records.
- Develop and utilize automated test scripts to perform duties
- Record issues into a defect-tracking system.
- Follow-up and close issues entered into the defect-tracking system.
- Escalate issues to a higher level where issue resolution is not achieved within a reasonable amount of time.
- Provide information to technical documentation (i.e. Product Release Notes/Readme files).
- Review product documentation (manuals/Getting Started Guides) for technical accuracy.
- Work with development team to understand assigned modules/new product features for the purpose of developing test cases.
Position-Specific Decision-Making Authority
- Generally works without consulting their manager.
- Independent decisions are made daily.
- Examples of typical decisions without manager consultation:
- Design decisions of a technical nature.
- Differentiating a code bug from design intent.
- Use of testing techniques to verify correct function.
- No significant budgetary or other financial accountability.
- Does not supervise (hire, evaluate, and/or terminate) other employees.
Position-Specific Authorities
- Perform product testing according to test plans/procedures.
- Create and update Quality Assurance issues in the defect-tracking system.
- Create test cases and procedure according to approved specifications.
- Have the ability to prioritize and adapt to varying workloads and to work under pressure.

Business Travel
Business travel of approximately 5 or less percent yearly is expected for this position.
Position-Specific Education, Experience and Certifications
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field.
Work Experience
Typically 3 to 5 years in a related role. QA testing experience preferred.
Specific Skills and Certifications
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of coding languages.
- Strong in SQL, Windows server configuration.
- Performance testing experience is a plus.
- Various storage devices experience is a big plus.
- Skills in Exchange server is a plus
- Skills in IBM Domino server is a plus
- Network knowledge is a plus
