Public networking officer: - Interpersonal relationship, particular the ability to collaborate among different people - Values diversity, respect the diversity of people - Innovative - Resilient and determined Job Description Greenpeace East Asia Job title: Public Networking Officer Job grade: 3 Reports to: Assistant Manager of Public Networking Line manages: N/A Overall purpose of the job The Public Networking Officer is responsible for broadening Greenpeace non-financial supporters in mainland China and engaging them in online activities that help to achieve Greenpeace environmental mission. Major functions / responsibilities Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management - Develop and execute strategy to engage non-financial supporters. - Lead research to understand the profile and values of Greenpeace non-financial supporters in mainland China. - Segment non-financial supporters to apply tailor made engagement strategy and tactics. - Keep abreast of latest development in digital and social media, including how other NGOs, commercial entities and individuals engage their supporter and customer base, to ensure Greenpeace's engagement strategy is in line with external trends. Apply new tools and introduce new knowledge to work. - Observe external debates and trends. Identify opportunities to engage non-financial supporters. Implementation - Regular communication and interaction with non-financial supporters. Carry out online or offline activities to increase supporter engagement. - Prepare textual and visual content. Run tests to optimize content, style and activities. - Measure the performance of supporter relation on regular basis. - Identify and reach out to key opinion leaders in online space. Support/ Coaching/ Leadership - Advise campaign projects on their supporter and public engagement strategy. - Coordinate communications, campaign and action staff to align with the supporter engagement strategy. - Train and guide campaign and communications staff to carry out effective supporter engagement strategy. Compliance/ Keeping Framework Conditions - Work closely with others, including peers in other Greenpeace offices, to ensure coherence of public messaging, alignment with Greenpeace global identity and values, and adherence to Greenpeace global communications protocols and standards. - Budget control when carrying out online and offline activities or other upporter-related work plans. Competency profile Organization competencies - Professionalism, in particular knowledge of cultivating network through digital and social media. - Achievement, in particular demonstrated ability to understand, segment and engage target audiences. - Interpersonal relationship, in particular ability to collaborate with others inside and outside of work. - Knowledge sharing - Values diversity, in particular understanding and respect of different values of Greenpeace supporters. - Innovation Functional competencies Technical - Knowledge and/or experience in public engagement (mobilization of people) - Knowledge of and/or experience in using communication tools (e.g.: audience analysis, message testing and surveys) - Knowledge and/or experience in/with in managing volunteers and developing volunteerism - Knowledge and/or experience in on-line marketing - Knowledge and/or experience in online editorial practices - Skills in written and verbal communication - Fluency in written and spoken native language - Fluency in written and spoken English Method related - Time management - Analytical skills - Planning & Organizing Social/self competencies - Resilient and determined - Assertive - Ability to motivate and instill passion - Outgoing & confident - Aesthetic sense (helping to make good choices in graphics, layouts, …) - Build and manage relationships with supporters Leadership competencies - Ability to influence and create consensus - Strategic Orientation Specific Work Environment - The position works in a standard office environment, and is required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives. - Be on call after working hours and on weekends as requested. - Ability to work across a variety of issues, under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Working Hours Conditioned working hours is 37.5 hours/ week from Monday to Friday. Learning and Development Greenpeace offers a combination of in house and external training opportunities throughout the year. Greenpeace also offers study leave for courses related to your work and assistance is available for relevant further education qualifications. For further information on learning and development opportunities please speak to the Staff Development Team. SALARY This position's salary range is from RMB 8000-11000/month.
